ACAA Announces New Flights Pittsburgh to New York LaGuardia on Delta Airlines

ALLEGHENY COUNTY AIRPORT AUTHORITY ANNOUNCES NEW FLIGHTS PITTSBURGH TO NEW YORK LAGUARDIA ON DELTA AIRLINES

PITTSBURGH, PA (December 16, 2011) – Delta Air Lines today unveiled its schedule for its new domestic hub at New York's LaGuardia airport, significantly expanding its service to include six daily Pittsburgh-New York (LGA) flights beginning July 11, 2012. Flights can be booked beginning tomorrow Saturday, December 17, at www.Delta.com.

“The new flights will provide Pittsburgh flyers with more choice and options when flying to New York for business travel. New York is an important destination to the Pittsburgh region. We are very pleased that Delta has included Pittsburgh International Airport in its initial offering of LGA destinations,” said Glenn R. Mahone, Chairman, Allegheny County Airport Authority.

"The new LaGuardia schedule puts Delta in nearly all of the top 50 markets from LaGuardia," said Gail Grimmett, Delta's senior vice president – New York. "It means we can get our customers to destinations across the U.S. with nonstop service and the convenience of LaGuardia."

Additionally, Delta offers Pittsburgh-New York JFK air service. Overall, total New York City service will go from five to nine daily flights on Delta. The PIT-JFK schedule will be three times daily – down one to two flights daily from July 2011 schedule. US Airways also offers 9 daily flights to New York (LGA).

Delta currently offers these flights from Pittsburgh: Atlanta – eight per day; Cincinnati – three per day; Detroit – six per day; New York JFK – five per day; Memphis – three per day; Minneapolis – four per day; Paris, France – four per week restarting in March.

The additional LaGuardia flights will be available under an agreement between Delta and US Airways to exchange takeoff and landing rights at LaGuardia and Reagan National Airport in Washington, D.C., which was approved earlier this year by the U.S. Department of Transportation. Delta closed its agreement with US Airways on Dec. 13.
