ALLEGHENY COUNTY AIRPORT AUTHORITY ANNOUNCES OPERATIONS DIRECTOR NINO SAPONE, A.A.E., EARNS PROFESSIONAL AIRPORT ACCREDITATION
PITTSBURGH, PA (July 12, 2011) – Nino Sapone, A.A.E., Director, Airfield Operations, Allegheny County Airport Authority at Pittsburgh International Airport, joins elite group of airport executives who have completed all requirements of accreditation for airport management excellence, a 57-year-old program of the American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE).
He has been awarded the distinction of Accredited Airport Executive (A.A.E.) by successfully completing three phases of the accreditation process: pass a 180-item multiple-choice examination, fulfill a writing requirement, and demonstrate, in the final interview by a panel of A.A.E.s, his knowledge of airport management, business administration, and general transportation economics. Nino’s achievement attests to his ability to meet these stringent requirements and his experience in managing a public airport.
At present, fewer than 10 percent of AAAE’s members throughout the country have earned the distinction. At Allegheny County Airport Authority, Nino is the fifth person to achieve A.A.E. A resident of Findlay Township, Nino is married and has two children. He has a Bachelors Degree in education from California University of Pennsylvania. He also serves on the AAAE Safety Operations Committee, the Airport Council International-North America Safety Operations Committee and is the 2011 Chairman of the Northeast Chapter AAAE Aircraft Rescue and Firefighter Training Program.
“Undergoing this process has expanded my general airport knowledge and will certainly be an asset in my job,” said Sapone.
