ACAA Announces US Airways, Southwest and American Eagle Adding Flights at PIT

ALLEGHENY COUNTY AIRPORT AUTHORITY ANNOUNCES US AIRWAYS, SOUTHWEST AND AMERICAN EAGLE ADDING FLIGHTS AT PITTSBURGH INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

  • Pittsburgh-to-NY LaGuardia US Airways route increases to nine per day on September 8
  • Southwest increased PIT-PHL flights from four to six in August
  • American Eagle Airlines will add one Pittsburgh to Miami flight beginning Nov. 18

PITTSBURGH, PA (September 2, 2010) – US Airways has recently added flights to its schedule at Pittsburgh International Airport, according to the Allegheny County Airport Authority. US Airways will increase Pittsburgh departures to New York LaGuardia to nine daily flights on September 8. This comes after the airline added an eighth daily departure to New York LaGuardia in August. The US Airways additions follow Southwest increasing daily departures to Philadelphia from four to six in mid-August.

“The Pittsburgh-LaGuardia and Pittsburgh-Philadelphia routes are vital connections for the region’s business travelers. This increased frequency will provide more flexibility for air travelers,” said Bradley D. Penrod, Executive Director/CEO, Allegheny County Airport Authority.

US Airways also added two flights a day to Charlotte in August going from seven per day to nine. Over the peak travel days for Labor Day and Thanksgiving, US Airways increased nonstop frequency to Phoenix from three per day to four.

Additionally, American Eagle Airlines, the regional affiliate of American Airlines, announced it will add one flight to Miami International Airport beginning Nov. 18, going from one to two nonstop flights daily.

As of August 2010, US Airways has 42 daily nonstop departures from Pittsburgh International Airport, Southwest has 21 daily flights and American Eagle has 11 daily flights. The flight schedules are determined by the airlines and are subject to change at any time.
