ACAA Board of Directors Update

ALLEGHENY COUNTY AIRPORT AUTHORITY BOARD OF DIRECTORS UPDATE

PITTSBURGH, PA (February 24, 2011) –Two directors were reappointed for five year terms and two new directors are first-time appointees to the Allegheny County Airport Authority.

Richard Shaw and Rich Stanizzo were reappointed to another term on the board through 2015. New board members are Cynthia D. Shapira, an independent management consultant, and Rep. Matthew Smith, PA House of Representatives.

“We are proud to welcome Ms. Shapira and Rep. Smith to the Airport Authority Board. We are honored to have the continued service of Mr. Shaw and Mr. Stanizzo. They have contributed a great deal of their time and expertise to the improvement and advancement of the ACAA,” Said Glenn R. Mahone, Chairman, Allegheny County Airport Authority.

Ms. Shapira, of Fox Chapel, is a consultant to non-profit organizations and a community leader. She has conducted seminars on strategic planning and board governance for non-profit boards through Duquesne University’s Non-Profit Leadership Institute.

Ms. Shapira’s community leadership roles include co-chairing the Pittsburgh Promise Campaign and the Jewish Community Foundation. Ms. Shapira is Honorary Co-Chair, along with Bayer Corp. CEO Greg Babe, of Allegheny 365, an initiative to ensure access to individuals of varying abilities in Allegheny County. She also chairs the PA Center for Women in Politics advisory committee at Chatham University. Ms. Shapira serves on numerous regional and national boards which impact arts, education and human services.

Ms. Shapira has a master’s degree in public administration (MPA) from the Harvard Kennedy School of Government and a bachelor of arts degree summa cum laude in political science from Wellesley College.

Rep. Matthew Smith (D-42, Allegheny) was elected to the PA House of Representatives in November 2006 and sworn in January 2007. Rep. Smith currently serves on the House Agriculture & Rural Affairs, Appropriations, Finance and Insurance Committees. He is the co-chair of the House Life Sciences Caucus.

Prior to being elected, Rep. Smith served as an attorney in Pittsburgh focusing on business and employment law. He is also a certified Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR). He has a great deal of community service and political science experience, volunteering for numerous local, state and national campaigns and serving on the transition team for Allegheny County Executive Dan Onorato.

Most recently, Smith was honored by Pittsburgh Magazine and the Pittsburgh Urban Magnet Project (PUMP) as a 2010 Pittsburgh ’40 Under 40’ award winner. He has a bachelor’s degree in history from Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida and a JD in law from Duquesne University. He lives in Mt Lebanon with his wife Eileen and their daughters Delaney and Emerson.
