ALLEGHENY COUNTY AIRPORT AUTHORITY COMMUNICATIONS DEPARTMENT RECOGNIZED FOR EXCELLENCE
- Places Second in two Categories in ACI-NA Excellence in Marketing and Communications Contest
PITTSBURGH, PA (September 11, 2009) – The Allegheny County Airport Authority’s Communications Department placed second in two categories in the Airports Council International-North America (ACI-NA) 2009 Excellence in Marketing and Communications Contest. The contributing staff of the Communications Department for the awards include JoAnn Jenny, Director (Ross Twp.), Jeff Martinelli, Public Affairs Manager (South Fayette Twp.), Samantha Stedford, Public Relations Coordinator (Imperial).
The ACAA took second place in Customer Service Initiatives for the Military and Family Courtesy Center and second place in Print Advertising – Color for its ad to promote the new nonstop flight from Pittsburgh International Airport to Charles De Gaulle Airport (CDG) in Paris
The Military and Family Comfort Center opened in November of 2008 as a place for military and their family members to escape the hustle and bustle of the airport and to provide them with a quiet spot before they depart. The center, operated by volunteer Airport Ambassadors, offers traveling military personnel a place to relax and provides recreational activities. More than 1,400 people have visited the Center to date.
The full-page ad ran on the back of the main section of March 1, 2009 Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. It kicked off the campaign with impact and generated great response. The ad was also produced to help support and provide awareness of Pittsburgh International Airport’s new European connection. Additionally, the ad provided travelers with information on booking tickets.
A total of 62 airports and airport authorities submitted almost 250 entries in the contest, which encompasses categories that recognize work in marketing and public relations, and provides airports the opportunity to be honored for the quality of their work. Awards are distributed in 20 categories ranging from brochures, advertising, marketing and public relations campaigns, newsletters, special events, video and film productions, to websites. Over a nine-day period, 31 communications and marketing professionals from the Washington, D.C.-area served as judges to review the entries submitted.
