PITTSBURGH INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT PASSENGER TRAFFIC REPORT FOR FEBRUARY 2013

  • Four airlines report increases in traffic
  • February’s daily passenger average up 0.9 percent

PITTSBURGH, PA (April 10, 2013) – Four airlines reported an increase in passengers at Pittsburgh International Airport (www.FlyPittsburgh.com) in February 2013 compared to February 2012 according to the February 2013 Scheduled Airline Traffic Report, prepared by the Allegheny County Airport Authority.

A total of 536,705 scheduled passengers were enplaned and deplaned at the airport in February 2013, a 2.6 percent decrease compared to February 2012 (536,705 in February 2013; 551,231 in February 2012; 2.6 percent).

The dip in traffic for the month can be directly attributed to February 2013 being one day shorter than February 2012, a leap year. The daily passenger average for the 28-day February 2013 was 19,168, while the daily passenger average for the 29-day February 2012 was 19,007. That means if days of the month were equal the monthly passenger report would reflect an increase of 0.9 percent.

Airlines which showed increases in traffic in February were United (87,115/84,774; 2.8 percent), AirTran (64,770/58,359; 11.0 percent), American (44,080/42,928; 2.7 percent), and Air Canada (2,649/2,557; 3.6 percent).

Airlines which reported decreases were US Airways (145,252/151,758; 4.3 percent); Southwest (91,351/100,322; 8.9 percent); Delta (87,865/93,674; 6.2 percent), and JetBlue (13,359/16,859; 20.8 percent).

Year-to-date scheduled passenger statistics show traffic down 0.8 percent (1,092,683/1,100,963; 0.8 percent).
