‘PEOPLE MOVER’ TRAIN IMPROVEMENTS AT PITTSBURGH INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT
PITTSBURGH, PA – Beginning Monday, November 3, the Allegheny County Airport Authority will continue to make improvements to the two “people mover” trains at Pittsburgh International Airport. These trains, which are located beyond the security check point, transport air travelers to and from the Airside Terminal, AIRMALL and airline gates.
These enhancements will consist of the installation of new flooring in each of the six train cars. There are three cars per train. During this upgrade, it is anticipated that a maximum of two cars out of the six will be out of service at any given time. The plan is to have these improvements completed prior to the Thanksgiving holiday travel rush.
Currently, both trains are running in the peak travel periods between the hours of 6:00 to 7:30 am and 3:00 to 7:30 pm. Operating four out of six train cars during those times may impact the traveling public. The Allegheny County Airport Authority is advising passengers to allow a little extra time for checking in and getting to their gates. Airport employees who work in the Airside Terminal should also allow extra time.
