PITTSBURGH INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT AIR TRAVEL ADVISORY
- Arrive Early For Your Flight: Heavy Passenger Traffic Anticipated Friday-Monday, Due to Busy Summer Travel and the US Open
- The Air Show May Temporarily Impact Commercial Airline Flight Schedules Friday-Sunday
PITTSBURGH (June 14, 2007) – If you are scheduled to fly this weekend at Pittsburgh International Airport, plan to arrive two hours before your flight so that you have time to check your bags and get through the security checkpoint. Passenger traffic volumes are very high this weekend due to the heavy summer travel season and visitor travel related to the US Open Golf Tournament.
The Wings Over Pittsburgh Air Show will be held this weekend at Pittsburgh International Airport. If you are flying from Pittsburgh International Airport, the Air Show’s Thunderbird performance may temporarily impact airline flight schedules. Scheduling of air acrobatics has been structured so as to minimize any impact on normal commercial flight operations. The Allegheny County Airport Authority, the airlines, the FAA Air Traffic Control Tower and the 911th Airlift Wing have been working closely for many months to ensure that the show and scheduled airline traffic operates smoothly and safely. Many of the airlines have adjusted their schedules according to the performances. Check your airline’s website for the most up-to-date arrival and departure flight times.
