ACAA Anounces Airport Access Pilot Program for Hyatt Regency Hotel Guests at PIT


PITTSBURGH, PA – The Allegheny County Airport Authority today announced the launch of a pilot program to allow overnight guests of Hyatt Regency Pittsburgh International Airport to go to the AIRMALL for shopping and dining at Pittsburgh International Airport.

“We are eager to launch this new program and are working closely with the Hyatt and the Transportation Security Administration to ensure that all security measures are followed and that Hyatt guests can take advantage of our world-renowned AIRMALL,” explained Kent G. George, Executive Director/CEO, Allegheny County Airport Authority.

“This is an exciting time for Hyatt Regency Pittsburgh International Airport. To be able to present our registered hotel guests an option to access the airport and all of its wonderful amenities without being a ticketed passenger is an unprecedented offering,” said Paul Devitt, general manager, Hyatt Regency Pittsburgh International Airport. “We have received full support from the Allegheny County Airport Authority and we look forward to seeing the results which will not only benefit our hotel guests, but the concessionaires and Pittsburgh International Airport.”

Hotel guests will be screened along with ticketed passengers at the security check point, and will need to follow the guidelines for prohibited items and the restrictions on liquids and gels. Information about the program will be distributed to guest rooms at the Hyatt. Guests will need to let the front desk know they are interested in shopping at the AIRMALL. The Airport Authority would then verify the guests’ identification and provide them with a non-flyer pass to present at the security checkpoint. This pilot program is also underway at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport and at Detroit Metro Airport.

“The Airport Authority has been interested in allowing non-flyers access to the AIRMALL for some time. Though the scope of this program is more limited than our original plan, we view it as an important step in promoting quality customer service while also meeting our high security requirements,” said George.
