ACAA Hosts New Andy Warhol Exhibit at PIT

ALLEGHENY COUNTY AIRPORT AUTHORITY HOSTS NEW ANDY WARHOL EXHIBIT AT PITTSBURGH INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

PITTSBURGH, PA (June 2, 2011) – The Andy Warhol Museum installed a new addition to their exhibition at Pittsburgh International Airport.

The Allegheny County Airport Authority ‘Art in the Airport’ Program is designed to manage an art collection of style, diversity and beauty to be enjoyed by the traveling public and airport employees which also promotes public art and enhances the airport environment.

At the airport, The Warhol, one of the four Carnegie Museums of Pittsburgh, displays several of Warhol's fine art prints, including four Muhammad Ali prints, six Camouflage prints and four Truck prints. They are exhibited along with two of Warhol’s wallpapers: Self-Portrait and Cow. Two display cases featuring photographs and Warhol memorabilia complete the exhibition.

“Visitors and travelers who take a moment to view the work realize how great Pittsburgh is as a center for the arts while making the travel experience a little more pleasant,” said JoAnn Jenny, Director of Communications.

The new installation is the third in a series of exhibitions that The Andy Warhol Museum has presented at Pittsburgh International Airport. The latest exhibitions will be on display in concourses C and D in the airside terminal from April 2011 through August 2011.

“We are thrilled to display Warhol’s work at Pittsburgh International Airport. Visitors to our city can feel the Pop Art vibe as soon as they land, and we hope that they extend their trip to stop by the museum to see our extensive collection of works by one of the greatest artists of our age,” said Eric Shiner, Acting Director & Milton Fine Curator of Art.
