  • Five airlines show increases in traffic through first half of year

PITTSBURGH, PA (August 10, 2012) – The June 2012 Scheduled Airline Traffic Report, compiled by the Allegheny County Airport Authority, showed that five airlines realized increases in passenger traffic through the first half of the year.

Year-to-date statistics show that these airlines – US Airways (1,042,139/1,021,727; 2.0 percent), Delta (697,438/681,814; 2.3 percent), United (633,716/630,480; 0.5 percent), American (292,406/273,119; 7.1 percent), and JetBlue (135,208/116,474; 16.1 percent) – have reported increases in traffic through June.

Scheduled passenger traffic at Pittsburgh International Airport decreased 2.9 percent in June 2012 compared to June 2011. A total of 738,126 scheduled passengers were enplaned and deplaned at the airport in June 2012 (738,126 in June 2012/760,540 in June 2011; 2.9 percent decrease).

Three airlines reported monthly increases in traffic with JetBlue leading (26,043/23,826; 9.3 percent). The other two airlines that reported increases were Air Canada (5,539/5,072; 9.2 percent) and United (128,408/119,101; 7.8 percent). Airlines that reported decreases in traffic for June 2012 were US Airways (179,188/184,099; 2.7 percent), Southwest (142,893/149,077; 4.1 percent), Delta (139,343/139,752; 0.3 percent), AirTran (61,925/68,241; 9.3 percent), and American (54,787/55,219; 0.8 percent). Year-to-date totals for all airlines show scheduled traffic down 2.7 percent (3,921,789/4,028,689; 2.7 percent).
