Pittsburgh International Airport Discount Fares Newsletter Wins ACI-NA Award

PITTSBURGH, PA (August 23, 2007) – Airports Council International - North America (ACI-NA) announced that Pittsburgh International Airport Communications Department’s Discount Fares Newsletter won First Place in the Newsletters – Internal/E-mail category of ACI-NA’s 2007 Excellence in Marketing and Communications Contest.

“We are so honored to receive such recognition,” said JoAnn Jenny, Director of Communications, Allegheny County Airport Authority. “The Discount Fares Newsletter has been a great success. It has been an outstanding way to communicate to our customers about the new airlines and lower airfares offered at Pittsburgh International Airport.”

Started in 2005, the Discount Fares Newsletter is a weekly email newsletter that has more than 30,000 subscribers, who receive all the latest information on last-minute sales and other great airfares being offered by all airlines at Pittsburgh International Airport. Anyone can receive the Discount Airfares Newsletter simply by visiting and signing up.

This year, 73 airports submitted nearly 300 entries in the contest, which encompasses categories that recognize work in marketing and public relations and provides airports the opportunity to be honored for the quality of their work. Award categories cover a wide range of media including brochures, advertising, marketing and public relations campaigns, newsletters, special events, video and film productions, and websites. The 2007 contest judges included 37 communications and marketing professionals in the Washington, D.C.-area who reviewed the entries over a 5-day period.

“ACI-NA congratulates the winners of the 2007 Excellence in Marketing and Communications Contest,” said ACI-NA President Greg Principato. “As facilities where millions of passengers spend time daily, airports have an important responsibility to ensure that they are conveying the right messages to their customers and communities. Our winners this year have done a spectacular job at clearly communicating their services.”
